Here we go again folks. Another remake. My opinion on these remakes is that they production companies are getting too Conservative and do not want to put out money for something new and innovative for fear they won't make the money back. My two cents. For instance, I saw a script I liked that was not picked up by any production company and I thought it was a good idea.
With that said, Fright Night was good, not great. The humor was still there and the idea was still the same. The film was different enough from the original that you might still like it even though you enjoyed the cheesy 1980's original.
Jerry (Colin Ferrel) is hot in this film but there is not an air of sexiness. He is pure evil. No intention of anything other then running the world with his minions. Jane Brewster (Toni Collette) is completely involved in this film and Peter Vincent ( David Tennant) I feel stole the show. This film did not have one specific lead character like the first one did. It was a team affair this time around. Charlie Brewster (Anton Yelchin) was not the geek of the first film. In my opinion, this film took areas from the original that were not elaborated on and chose those to build a script on. You are welcome to disagree, I love discussing these things.
I liked the film because it was so different than the first and it was rated R so it felt more real to me. I did not love the film however. I would wait for the DVD and rent it. In Joe Bob Briggs world I would give it 2 stars.
Horror movie review among other things. Will promote you if you would like, but be careful, If I don't like you, I may have you for dinner.

Hatchet II
SPOILER!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Director Adam Greene does it again. Hatchet II does not disappoint. Starts off where Hatchet I leaves off and follows the storyline well. For this film not to have been released but a couple days in the US is horse shit. This is what we want! blood and guts literally. Yes one part of the film does include a man's intestines being pulled from him and strangled until his head pops off. This film had great special effects! That is in thanks to Keven Carter, Alex Hill, Robert Pendergraft, Visual Effect by Micah Gallo and Scott Purdy, and Makeup by Adrienne Lynn, Arlene Martinez, Robert Pendergraft, Lancel Reyes, Adrian Romo, Shyann Swisher, Rileah Vanderbilt. Ya'll know I am makeup and Special effects so I have to shout out to them. Awesome job all.
Mary Beth (Danielle Harris) is pissed that her family has been slaughtered and and wants revenge. She gets it.
She seeks assistance from Reverend Zombie, Candy Man star Tony Todd and a band of Louisiana outcasts. They go back to the site of the original and find all new ways for Victor Crowley (Kane Hodder) to slaughter everyone. Hatchet II has more unique kills. My favs were the pussy hatchet, probably the only way Victor can get laid, the, my what big chainsaw you have kill, the bootleg kill- head cheese anyone, and Mary Beth's revenge. You will know what I mean when you see the film.
Victor reminds me of Toxie on steroids and a bit more evil hahahaha. Speaking of Toxie, Lloyd Kaufman makes a cameo in this film. I did not know he was in it but recognized him when I saw him.
I would recommend this film to every horror fanatic out there. This is one film that will become a classic. Best part is that you don't have to see the first to understand the second film.
