PRIEST- SPOILER- sort of :)

Priest is a film I feel is the Matrix meets Mad Max (Road Warrior). I loved it. Some will  not. These are brutal vampires. No feelings, no eyes, no heart, pure killing machines. Look out Twilight, haha, look out 30 days of night. This goes way beyond our normal views of vampires. I think that is why I liked it so much.
This film was directed by Scott Charles Stewart known for Legion. He has done visual effects on films like Sin City and The Lost World: Jurassic Park. Those alone should make you want to see the visual effects in this film.
Paul Bettany plays the Priest. He seems to always be in a film that has religion as one of the catalysts of the film. Karl Urban plays his nemesis in the film. Cam Gigandet, Maggie Q, Lilly Collins, Brad Dourif, Stephen Moyer, Christopher Plummer, Alan Dale, and Madchen Amick play main characters in this film as well. I have to give a shout out to the makeup artists as that is where my passion lies. Chris Alex, David J. Barker, Dylan Boeddeker, Michael Copeland, John Frazier, Tommy Frazier, Joe Giles, Brian Goehring, Stephen Imhoff, and Raymond C. King, you guys rock!
The film starts with a bang! We get to find out just how brutal these vampires are. Then we are taken to where the priest is living. Post apocolyptic times, dark and much despair, and all are under the direction of the Monsignor Orelas ( Christopher Plummer). Everything is run by the church. Oppression is highly visible.
The Priests were an order to kill vampires but was dismantled by the church. Our main character Paul Bettany finds out his daughter was taken by the vampires and goes on a quest to get her back. He breaks his vows, leaving the city followed by fellow priests the church sends out to bring him back dead or alive. These Priests are not normal Priests, they are themselves killing machines. A battle between good and evil, God versus Religion, man versus beast entails. There is never a dull moment in this film. It keeps your attention at every turn.

Those that read my reviews, and I know I don't use exciting words, or go into much detail, but I am trying to write for all people not just ones that have PhD's and want a quick review.  Thanks for reading, Wiccanz

AHHH Zombies

Good afternoon everyone, I just watched a fun little film called "AHHH Zombies." I am going to spoil this. If you want to watch it you better stay away from my review...............

That said, here we go. This film was released in 2007 directed by Matthew Kohnen. It starts out like most zombie films. A government experiment gone bad. Four young adults are in a restaurant when one of them brings in ice cream mixer that has been contaminated. One of the guys decides to make beer ice cream. It turns out flourescent green. They eat it anyway and end up turning into zombies.

This group feels and wonders why everyone else is running for their lives when they come near them. The film cuts in different places to show the four of them in real life. They even go bowling. The four young adults find out they are in fact zombies by another zombie that was created by the military. They decide it is us against them as the normal people keep trying to kill them.

I enjoyed this film. It was quirky and fairly strange but had a great sense of humor. If your looking for a fun zombie movie to relax with the family, this would be one of them.

Kinerase

Hello all, Kinerase is not the name of a movie, at least not that I know of. This is more of an ad. I never had acne problems when I was a kid until I turned about 30. Then it hit like a snowball in the face. I tried everything. I did not have a lot of money and still don't. I finally went to a dermatologist about three years ago and she told me what to do. Unfortunately it was not cheap. Kinerase has helped immensely. Of course I am not completely without breakouts, but it's been the best yet. I get most of my washes off of eBay or Amazon.

Scream 4

The gangs all here. At least the ones who made it through the first three. I won't repeat who all is in this film. If you don't already know, you shouldn't be reading this blog.
I will not be putting any spoilers in this so it will be short.
I thought the film was past it's time. It was a good idea and it was a fun film, however, Scream was brilliant in it's time. Since it has been so long, horror has taken a different turn. Scream 4 tried to keep it's original feel adding in more of today's type horror and killing. It did not work very well. It was a good try. We will see how it did at the box office tomorrow 4/18/2011.
If you watch closely, there were subtleties in the film that made it worthwhile to watch. An example of this would be who was the director for the Stab movies in the film. That was pretty funny. See? I did not spoil it. :D Anyway, there were other small things in the film that make it worthwhile. I would still see it in the theatres and not wait for it to go to DVD. Horror has moved on Scream, and unfortunately you better as well. goodbye 1990 horror!

Let Me In

I just watched the American version of this film and I have to say it was a hell of a lot better than the original. The original was extremely boring. So boring in fact, my brain started to go numb. Thank god for Matt Reeves and his crew. I'm not going to go into major detail with this review but it allowed for the audience to use their imagination and also included key points to help understand the relationship between the boy and the vampire. Even though this movie was not horribly gory, it had its moments. The characters were built up enough to allow the audience to be able to understand the main characters. I am 37 and I was brought back to when I was 12 and the emotions that are felt at that time let alone dealing with the fact you feel your in love with an immortal.
I give this a 3 out of 5. I enjoyed the film.
